Player of the season so far Judd Trump came from 3-1 down to beat Shaun Murphy 6-4 at the Cazoo Champion of Champions, staying on course for a fourth title within two months.
Trump won three consecutive trophies at the English Open, Wuhan Open and Northern Ireland Open and though his winning streak was ended by Stephen Maguire at the International Championship, he is now in the hunt for more silverware.
The Bristol cueman goes through to meet Barry Hawkins in the semi-finals in Bolton on Friday.
Murphy took the first two frames of a high quality group final, making breaks of 107 and 67. Trump made a crucial 73 clearance to take the third, before Murphy went 3-1 ahead. After the interval, world number two Trump battled back with 84, 54 and 56 as he won three frames in a row to lead 4-3. Then in the pivotal eighth frame, he recovered a 67-1 deficit, getting the snookers he needed and clearing for 5-3.
Murphy won the ninth on the colours, only for Trump to wrap up the contest in the next with a 107.
Earlier in the group semi-finals, Trump saw off World Women’s Champion Baipat Siripaporn 4-0 with a top run of 115 while Murphy made a 107 in a 4-1 victory over Gary Wilson 4-1.
