World number 75 Zak Surety scored a surprise 5-3 win over Jack Lisowski in the qualifying round of the BetVictor German Masters in Sheffield on Tuesday.

How to watch / Match schedule

Essex cueman Surety is enjoying the best season of his career so far having reached the last 32 of two ranking events, and he can now look forward to a trip to the famous Tempodrom venue in Berlin in the new year, having knocked out world number 16 Lisowski. Breaks of 83, 60, 71 and 61 helped Surety to the winning line.

Ding Junhui, who won this event in 2014, also suffered a first round exit as he lost 5-2 to Yuan Sijun. Leading 3-1 at the interval, Yuan was then docked a frame for arriving late back to the table. But he made a 102 in frame six before clinching the result in the seventh.

Kyren Wilson, who lifted the trophy in 2019, top scored with 131 as he beat Oliver Lines 5-3. China’s He Guoqiang continued his impressive rookie season as he fired a run of 111 in the decider to beat John Astley 5-4.

Robert Milkins came from 31-0 down in the decider to edge out Allan Taylor 5-4, while Matthew Selt also enjoyed a 5-4 success, making a 76 in the last frame to beat Dylan Emery.
